Estimates

Unfortunately, when it comes to moving, there is no way to offer customers a guaranteed set-price.  This is because there are numerous factors which can affect the cost to move.  Leavy Moving & Storage values the trust and loyalty of our customers, which is why we offer our customers a free, in-person evaluation of your home and belongings, so we can provide a detailed and accurate estimate for your move.  Simply call us and one of our customer service representatives will be happy to schedule a free, on-site location.

 

Types of Estimates – Typically, there are three different types of estimates available for customers.  Should you have any questions about which kind of estimate is best for you, be sure to ask one of our customer service representatives or the expert who performs you on-site evaluate.

• Non-Binding – are exactly what they sound like.  After assessing everything that needs to be moved (and/or packed), we will calculate the cost as best as we can.  However, oftentimes we cannot give you a guaranteed price, until the day of the move, with all items packed in storage containers and boxes.  The price can be lower or higher than the original estimate, depending on how many boxes/containers need to be moved, as well as the weight of heavy/bulky items. 

• Binding – are the most ideal types of estimates.  Binding estimates are concrete and non-negotiable.  That means that regardless of any factor (weight, number of boxes, etc.), the price will not change.  This is ideal because you are completely certain of what the cost will be.

 

• Binding with a Limit – blends the two previous types of estimates together.  This type of estimate is often coined as a “not-to-exceed” estimate.  This means final cost cannot exceed the estimated cost.  However, the price may be adjusted if the final cost is lower than the estimate.

• Distance – how far you are traveling, in-state vs. out-of-state
• Self-packing vs. full-service packing
• Storage options
• Supplies and equipment needed to move your possessions
• Heavy/Bulky items
• Weight
• Amount of time needed to complete your move
• Number of professional movers required
• Insurance
• Additional fees (state/county fees, fees for moving unique items)
